Specialist scope

Control and automation, rather than main distribution boards

This service focuses on panels that control equipment and sequences: pumps, fans, sensors, alarms, drives, interlocks and interfaces. Work may include a technical survey, functional definition, design, specification, manufacturing oversight, configuration, testing and maintenance preparation.

Panel supply is coordinated with a manufacturing partner responsible for the finished assembly and applicable conformity documentation.

Elements that can be specified

  • Manual, automatic, service and emergency modes
  • Protection, signalling, alarms and interlocks
  • PLCs, variable-frequency drives and interfaces
  • Communication with BMS or building management systems
  • Diagrams, identification and functional documentation
01 · Pumping

Pump control panels

Solutions for one or more electric pumps, sized for the process, motor ratings and required continuity of service.

  • Automatic alternation and duty/standby operation
  • Level, pressure or flow control
  • Dry-running and overload protection
  • Alarms, remote signalling and variable-frequency drives
02 · Ventilation

Fans and smoke control

Control of supply and extract fans, with clear logic for normal ventilation, safety and the emergency scenarios defined in the design.

  • Normal, manual, automatic and emergency modes
  • Control of fans and motorised dampers
  • Status, fault and availability signalling
  • Interfaces with SADI, PLCs and building management systems
03 · Carbon monoxide

CO detection and ventilation control

Engineering and coordination of automatic carbon monoxide detection systems for car parks and other applicable locations.

  • CO control panel and detectors
  • Alarm thresholds and staged ventilation control
  • Visual and audible signalling
  • Integration with a control panel or PLC
04 · Maintenance

Assessment, maintenance and modernisation

Technical assessment of existing panels to locate faults, recover documentation and prepare work proportionate to the equipment's function and condition.

  • Checks on power, control and protection circuits
  • Testing of automation, alarms and interlocks
  • Review of PLCs and drives
  • Updated diagrams and service report

Automation panels

Control tailored to installation operation

Alongside pumping, smoke control and CO applications, we develop engineering and functional specifications for HVAC, automation and speed-control panels, with manufacture by the responsible partner.

05 · HVAC

HVAC control panels

Control of fans, pumps, motorised dampers, sensors and HVAC equipment, according to the building's operating modes and conditions.

  • Temperature, pressure, air quality and schedules
  • Manual, automatic and maintenance modes
  • Alarms, signalling and building management integration
  • A balance of comfort, energy efficiency, cost and ease of maintenance
06 · Automation and control

Automation and control panels

Organised solutions to house, power and protect PLCs, input/output modules, power supplies, relays, interfaces and other control equipment.

  • Functional sequences and interlocks
  • Interfaces with sensors, actuators and equipment
  • Signalling, communications and diagnostics
  • Clear diagrams for operation and maintenance
07 · Motor control

Variable-speed drive panels

Motor control through variable-frequency drives, particularly useful for pumps and fans whose operating rate needs to follow the installation's actual demand.

  • Controlled starting and stopping
  • Pressure, flow, temperature or air quality control
  • Reduced starting peaks and demand-responsive energy use
  • Alarms, protection and bypass where specified

SCIE systems

Responsibilities agreed before the proposal

Where a panel forms part of a fire pump system, smoke control system, CO detection or air pollution control, sale, installation and maintenance are carried out and invoiced by an ANEPC-registered partner for the applicable activities and categories. Comandos Engenharia provides engineering and technical coordination within the scope of its applicable qualifications.

Low-voltage switchboards

Design and supply, without installation

For low-voltage main switchboards and distribution boards, we provide the design and technical specification and coordinate supply through a manufacturing partner. We do not carry out on-site installation.

The identified manufacturing partner is responsible for assembly manufacture, testing, CE marking, the EU Declaration of Conformity and other applicable technical documentation. The proposal identifies each party's scope and responsibilities.

Frequently asked questions

Before requesting a proposal

Does Comandos Engenharia manufacture main distribution boards?

No. For low-voltage main switchboards and distribution boards, we develop the design and coordinate supply through a manufacturing partner. On-site installation is not included.

Who manufactures the panel and declares its conformity?

The identified manufacturing partner builds the assembly and provides the technical documentation, EU Declaration of Conformity and CE marking applicable to the supplied panel.

Do you maintain smoke control and CO detection panels?

For systems subject to the Portuguese Fire Safety in Buildings regime, sale, installation and maintenance are carried out and invoiced by a partner registered with ANEPC for the applicable activities and categories.

What information is needed to assess a control panel?

Existing diagrams, authorised photographs, equipment lists, ratings, operating sequences, manual and automatic modes, alarms, interfaces and a description of the faults or desired changes are useful.

Initial assessment

What equipment do you need to control?

Tell us the location, existing motors and sensors, desired sequence, interfaces and, if possible, share available diagrams or authorised technical photographs.
