Verifiable results

A completed installation needs to be measured and documented

Functional testing checks whether installed networks meet the conditions required for their intended performance. Measurements cover the systems relevant to the project and are compared with the corresponding technical criteria.

Results, equipment used, circuit identification and relevant observations are organised in the Testing and Functionality Report. Any non-conformities are reported for correction and subsequent verification.

Key benefits

  • Objective verification of cabling performance
  • Fault detection before building handover
  • Results organised by network and link
  • Technical documentation for the ITED process
  • Greater confidence at installation handover

What it includes

Visual inspection, link identification, selection of relevant tests, measurement with suitable equipment, recording of results, reporting of faults and preparation of the REF based on the installation as built.

Where it applies

  • Houses and residential buildings
  • Offices, retail and commercial premises
  • Hotels and tourism developments
  • New and refurbished buildings
  • Modified or extended ITED installations

Technical overview

Depending on the installed networks, the work may cover continuity and performance of copper pairs, levels and response of coaxial networks, and optical fibre losses. The exact measurements are defined after reviewing the design, installation and applicable ITED manual.

Process

Prepare, measure, correct and document

Before the visit, we confirm the networks, points, drawings and access arrangements. On site, we identify the links and carry out the planned tests. If results fall outside the criteria, we provide a clear list of corrections; the validated final readings are included in the REF.

Frequently asked questions

Before ITED testing

What information is needed?

The ITED design or as-built drawings, building identification, information about the installed networks, access to ATI and ATE cabinets, boxes and outlets, and details of any changes made on site.

Can a REF be issued with unresolved faults?

The results must reflect the installation tested. Identified faults are reported and, where necessary, circuits are retested after correction before the documentation is completed.

Are the tests the same for every project?

No. They depend on the applicable manual edition, building type, specified networks and the installation as built.

Do you also provide ITED design?

Yes. Design can be commissioned separately or coordinated with final testing, with clear documentation for each stage.

How do you demonstrate your qualifications?

Evidence of the relevant registration is provided to the client during the assessment and commissioning of the service.

Prepare for the visit

Need ITED testing and a REF report?

Send us the design, site location and expected completion date of the infrastructure. We will explain the information and conditions required.
